Thursday August 14, 2025 9:00am - 10:00am PDT
Every wiggle, fidget, or zoning-out moment in the classroom can be a clue to something deeper—sensory needs. In this dynamic, hands-on session led by an Occupational Therapist and an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) teacher, participants will gain a foundational understanding of how sensory processing affects behavior, attention, and learning. Learn how to identify common sensory needs, distinguish between sensory-seeking and sensory-avoidant behaviors, and implement practical, movement-based strategies to support regulation in inclusive classrooms. You’ll leave with easy-to-use tools, real-life examples, and a deeper appreciation for how sensory-aware teaching creates calm, focused, and successful learners.

Everyone Belongs (9:00am-11:00am)
Thursday August 14, 2025 9:00am - 11:00am PDT
Inclusion is not just a goal; it’s a legal and moral imperative. In this informative and inspiring session, participants will explore the legal foundations of inclusion, including key laws like the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, which ensure equitable access for all students. We’ll take a closer look at our district's journey toward fostering inclusive environments, sharing successes, challenges, and the vision for the future.

Beyond the law and policy, we will dive into why inclusion is so vital for the success and well-being of every learner. You’ll discover how inclusive practices promote social-emotional growth, academic achievement, and community-building. Through real-life examples, we’ll showcase how inclusion works in action—from collaborative teaching strategies to innovative accommodations and supports.

This session is for educators, staff, and community members who want to deepen their understanding of inclusion and its transformative impact on our students, classrooms, and school culture.
